I am a newbie on Flickr (about 1 month now). I just found out more about the rules and terms of service for Flickr.com on the weekend. I was updated on the rules by a Flickr group administrator, via email. I think many of us gals in Blogland are not aware of the rules . . . so I thought I would offer a helping hand post.
Did you know that the only area where you are allowed to show a link is on your profile page? Very much like ebay only allowing links on your "me page." Flickr is intended for photo sharing only.
The specific Flickr rule is:
~~~~~~~
Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes. Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account.
~~~~~~~~
In other words, you are not allowed to say something is for sale, post a link to where it can be viewed or purchased, or advertise your blog or store. The only place we can post links is on our individual profile page.
I am guilty, guilty, guilty and have just finished "fixing" my photos and even the titles of my photo categories (I even called one "Store Preview" ~ ooops!). So . . . . before you are caught (and your flickr account is cancelled), you may want to scoot on over to flickr and delete your links and any references to items being "for sale".
Run quickly and tell your friends !

Hi Karen...I didn't know there were so many rules! I have only used Flickr for scanning paper...before I had a scanner. I don't really know much else about it. Good to have this information going forward.
Hope they weren't too hard on you.
Thanks for your visit...I'll call next week
Hugs, Nancy

Oh dear...guess I have some work to do tonight.lol. I only did it because I saw someone else did it. So...on Ebay I can mention it where???I didn't know I had a profile...lol. Laurie
Hi Laurie, I used ebay as an example (you can only post links on your "me page" on ebay).
On Flickr.com you can only put links on "your profile" page. I have my blog, my website and my etsy store listed there. You will see the profile link near the top of the page, once you log into Flickr.
We can't put the links in the photo description or say that the item is available on Etsy. That is what should be deleted. eg. that cute little green plate references Etsy.

Wow I am shocked over this! Most everyone adds their website or blog or store on Flickr...LOL all of us will have to change that! Oops...thanks for the note here now I am so informed!
Thanks for the contact add on there too. I look forward to getting to know you!!
Love the little beauties in this entry! Sooo precious. Beautiful also!
xx Molly
That was very sweet of you to share those rules with everyone so nobody get into trouble.
I love the pictures you used in this blog post, and I'm wondering where you get them? They are too, too cute!!!

Hi Michele, I love vintage postcards! They have the cutest images. They are getting harder to find though (at auctions). A box of old cards went for $138 at a recent sale I attended (I didn't win them).
Thank you for email. Karen
