Another Friday has arrived. Boy June is just flying by (only one more week and then the kids are finished school). I guess we all need to be busy, busy, busy next week :-)

I have listed Vintage Lingerie from the 1920s to 1940s in My Etsy shop. You can see my items here. Lots of lace, silk, satin and pretty shades of pink, peach and cottage white. I also listed several quilts and tablecloths earlier in the week. My Etsy shop is starting to look nice and full now. I have 50 listings :)

From Darth to Delicious!

A few posts ago I was mentioning that my poor ol' Dress Form is stuck in the toy room (at the mercy of my kids playing dress-up) because the guest bedroom seems to be overflowing with all my auction finds. It is hard to find room for her.

Well, today was tidy up day. I carried Ms. D.F. (still need to name her) up two flights of stairs, from the basement to the Guest Bedroom. I rescued her from Darth Vader, Harry Potter and the land of Wizards !!!

It is still a tight squeeze (maybe I will move the bed over).

She does seem much happier now!

Helping Hand ~ Flickr Rules ~ Please Read

I am a newbie on Flickr (about 1 month now). I just found out more about the rules and terms of service for Flickr.com on the weekend. I was updated on the rules by a Flickr group administrator, via email. I think many of us gals in Blogland are not aware of the rules . . . so I thought I would offer a helping hand post.

Did you know that the only area where you are allowed to show a link is on your profile page? Very much like ebay only allowing links on your "me page." Flickr is intended for photo sharing only.




The specific Flickr rule is:

Don’t use Flickr for commercial purposes. Flickr is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your photostream, we will terminate your account.

In other words, you are not allowed to say something is for sale, post a link to where it can be viewed or purchased, or advertise your blog or store. The only place we can post links is on our individual profile page.

I am guilty, guilty, guilty and have just finished "fixing" my photos and even the titles of my photo categories (I even called one "Store Preview" ~ ooops!). So . . . . before you are caught (and your flickr account is cancelled), you may want to scoot on over to flickr and delete your links and any references to items being "for sale".

Run quickly and tell your friends !

The warm weather is here . . . and it finally feels like summers. We had some company on the weekend. Our newest little friend Rachel came by for a visit with her Mummy and Daddy. She is adorable and very happy. Always smiling ~ What a sweetie.

Trash to Treasure ~ Show and Tell Sunday

Welcome to another Show and Tell Sunday ~ Trash to Treasure theme.

I will tell you the story of my $10 table.

Our property is very windy. I mean verrrrry windy ! There is always a gust and even the shingles on our relatively new home (8 years old) were blown away a few weeks ago! The roof is repaired now.




Needless to say, we need a table on our deck that is solid wood, heavy as all get out, and relatively flip resistant. I don't want my deck furniture coming through my family room window! I found the perfect candidate at a local auction for only ten bucks. This is the closest I have to a before picture. The table had a very dark brown stain and the top was in poor condition, with numerous scratches, water marks and stains. Those are my pets and helpers ~ Cider and Casey.

I started out sanding it all down to see what I was working with.

The top was in great shape, after all, and the legs were just OK.

I decided to stain the top and paint the legs.

I used an off white Oil Base paint on the legs ~ very weather resistent and tough.

I stained the top "Teak" and used 3 coats of Helmsman Minwax Outdoor Urethane ~ Clear Satin finish ~ "Tough protection against Sunlight, Rain and Temperature".

Yes, I live in Canada :) LOL

The reddish teak tone I was hoping for "pops" on the top of the table and the almond colored legs give it a nice contrast. I will likely stain the deck dark as well (still debating). I also have six solid oak chairs to paint. They are not trash, but I got them cheap at an auction and will likely paint them (I can't imagine sanding all those rungs ~ much easier to match paint).

Most of my friends say it is too nice for outside. But I really do need a solid table on my deck.

There is a cute little floral knob on the drawer.

The bunnies are heavy too . . . and hold little votive candles.



Cider approves!!!! My $10 Treasure provides a nice shady spot on hot afternoons. I painted two little end tables to match. The chairs and the deck will be next :)

Friday Flea Market ~ New items in my Etsy Shop

Well the week has flown by! I have been busy stocking my Etsy shop and my ciderantiques.com shop. The vintage supplies are selling as fast as I list them, on Etsy, which is great! I may end up switching some of my .com listings over to Etsy. Do most of you gals have both ? . . . a website and an Etsy store? How do you split your time? Do you think most people would prefer one stop shopping? Any thoughts would be appreciated :-)
