Fresh Corn and Sunflowers : )

~~~
Every spring my husband plants some corn and my two children plant sunflowers (yes, all in the same small area). The last two years, the sunflowers have won (great flowers, but no corn to eat). But this year . . . there was definitely more corn growing than flowers.
There was the odd sunflower trying to compete.
This year we actually had two BBQ dinners with corn on the cob ~ such success!
It looked and tasted pretty good too!
But then my visitor from last spring came back . . .
(remember her?)
Well now she has the sweetest little baby fawn!
I finally have a photo to share . . .
They seemed to like the corn too ! Ah well, she is so cute I don't mind.
No Friday Flea Market for me this weekend. We have company coming tomorrow and it is the last weekend before school starts ~ September 2nd. Hope everyone had a great summer ! It went by so fast.
Hi Karen...fresh corn! It looks wonderful. Nice to have homegrown food. I sometimes wish I had my house again...I could plant veggies. But then I would spend all my time tending to the garden and not doing much else!
The kids look like they are pretty proud of that sunflower...very impressive.
Love the fawn picture. Aren't they beautiful...so graceful...maybe not around the corn though!
Have a great long weekend.
Hugs, Nancy
Hi Karen,
Wow - your own corn - I'm impressed! Great pics of the kids - they sure are growing up fast. That wee fawn is so adorable - don't you just wish you could get close enough to pet her. Enjoy your weekend!
Great photos!
We had a mama deer and to fawns nibbling at the peaches, too. :)
I'm so impressed with the corn! It looks delish!
We grew it one year and only got a few ears before the rest developed a fungus. ick.
