Fresh Berries

Show and Tell was given a rest this weekend. Summer has arrived and holiday time is just around the corner. The last day of school is Wednesday June 25th, for my two children.



We went to the local market and bought some wonderful strawberries, blue berries and raspberries. No sugar required. Perfect already. It is so nice to have fresh local fruit again :-)

I know, two posts in one day! I just had to share these photos. The same deer that came to visit us last weekend, on Father's day, is back again. I guess she likes our weeds, LOL. We have 3 acres on our property and about half of it is meadow. I guess she likes it ! Better to eat those wild flowers than my garden :-)

I was hiding (ha!) behind the small Oak Tree to take these pictures.

She knew I was there, but didn't seem to mind.

She was watching me, and my cat (that curiously wanted to see what was going on).



She really likes those flowering weeds. She most likely has a sleeping fawn nearby. The local Humane Society has newspaper and radio ads every spring. They advise people to leave the "abandoned" fawn alone. Mommy is most likely grazing nearby.

They don't leave their babies alone for long.

Maybe I will have pictures of a tiny fawn soon :-)

Pretty in Pink ~ Victorian Doll

This doll is a reproduction but you really have to look closely to be able to tell. She is signed and dated 1980 on her shoulder plate.

I just love her feathered hat.

Her Clothing is silk with lace trim. It is all fully lined.

Expertly made with French seams, piping and bows.

She has a bustle, half slip, pantaloons and camisole.

She is just over 14 inches tall.

I love her little black boots.


I will likely post her on eBay in a day or so . . . Etsy does not have a doll category or an antique category (only vintage) . . . so I think a Victorian Style Doll will be easier to find on eBay.

The Dad Zone ~ Rainbows, Sunsets & Wildlife

It is always nice to have Father's Day on the weekend. We played a round of mini golf in the morning. My daughter says she won (but conveniently threw out the score sheet after she added it up ~ hmmmmm).

My son is still young enough to make Father's Day crafts at school. I think the teacher was really creative this year ! What a great project. It will be proudly displayed in Steve's workshop.

The weather was a bit crazy here on Father's Day. We had on again - off again rain storms. We were rewarded with a full 180 degree rainbow (it took me two pictures to get the entire span). It went right over my neighbor's home.

Sunday evening we had the most beautiful sunset.

It even turned my etching pink :-)

And a friendly deer came by to say Hello ~ a great Father's Day !

Sunday Show and Tell ~ Best Flea Market Find

Welcome to another Show and Tell Sunday. The theme this weekend is best Flea Market Find. When I found this lovely doll she was sitting amongst various neglected cookie tins. Her dress was "gold" in color it was so dirty. She was very dusty and had lost her shoes and socks.

She is not a Lenci Doll but she certainly does have those charming side glancing eyes. I knew she was vintage and I think she is most likely a Chad Valley or Norah Wellings doll.

I think she is beautiful !

After 3 hand washings I managed to discover a white dress with

sweet little polka dots.


My Auntie ~ Teddy Bear Artist Brenda Power ~ had vintage green felt the exact color I needed! I made a new pair of shoes from a Lenci pattern. I think they turned out quite well.
