Brown Bear Done
First Bear of five is complete. I am quite happy with his face. He looks like an old bear with lots of stories to tell. I distressed the mohair to make him look like an antique bear. He has nice old boot button eyes (thanks Deb!) and a worn looking nose. I will figure out the extras (collar, ribbon etc) over the holdays. For now he is greeting my guests with a holiday message ~ Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas Banner
I decided to make my eBay Store look more Festive for December. I took some photos of my favourite antique Christmas cards and merged them together to make a new logo. I think it turned out quite well. The running Teddy looks like we often feel at Christmas . . . go go go! Maybe the little girl gets him to slow down.

My Favourite Vintage Print
I love this painting . . . it is called "Can't you talk?" It was reproduced as a print in the 1920's. I am still looking for a copy for my guest bedroom. The colours vary a lot in these old prints. I hope to find one that isn't too faded. The animals in the picture remind me a lot of my own Collie dog and Tabby cat.

Pretty Quilts
Sneak Preview ~ Red Theme ~
It is only two weeks until November . . . so I thought I had better start organizing my reds and whites (if you know what I mean). It will take me a week or two just to photograph it all and draft the listings. I hope to have it all on ebay by November 1st. I will have a new category in my ebay store called ~ Red Theme ~

Happy Thanks Giving ~ Canada
~ Happy Thanks Giving Canada ~ The weather is beautiful and it still feels like summer. We can enjoy the warm weather a bit longer I hope. I will try to update my blog more frequently. I have much more time for local auctions and estate sales now that my two children are back in school. This lovely tablecloth is a recent find at a local auction ~ MINT condition. Someone obviously decided it was too pretty to use. Well wrapped and put away for many years. It is currently available in my ebay store.

Victorian Net Lace or Tambour Lace from the 1800's are very popular with my customers. I do not find them very often but have been lucky a few times. The trick to doing well at auctions is being subtle. It you see something that may be wonderful at the bottom of a box, just leave it there and try to take a peak without removing it from the box. The fewer people that know, the better your chances of winning. I was lucky with this set of lace panels. No one was interested in the box of old towels. This treasure was hidden at the bottom.
Treasure hunting for the fun of it ! I love to go to Flea Markets, Estate Sales and local Auctions in search of old Lace, Linens and Collectibles. I purchase items I like well enough to keep in my own home and items that will appeal to various collectors. I can't keep all my treasures ~ LOL
Please feel free to send me a note if you are looking for something in particular. I will do my best to find it for you.
