50cm of Snow ~ Again !

Wow ! The snow just keeps on commin' . The weather man says 50cm this weekend (almost 2 feet). Our pool is buried by a +5 foot drift. We are calling it the white dinosaur. That fence is almost 6 feet tall. The drift is actually bigger inside the pool area but my pictures didn't capture the angle. My calendar says the first day of spring is March 20th. Maybe not this year.

My pin~keep is almost done. I decided to give her a crystal base instead of a wooden base. It complements her soft pink and white tones. The next step is to choose the lace I will use to make her a pretty Victorian style collar.

The kids are home again from school (second snow day this week). Hubby is home too, as we can't even get the car out of the driveway today. The schools are open but the buses are cancelled, so it is another day of "home school". It is March Break next week and Easter the week after that . . . have to get some lessons in this month.

Teddy Bear Pin~Keep

My stash of Laura Ashley upholstery fabric has been put to good use. I have decided to try something new . . . tall (10") pin~keeps with a teddy bear theme.

They will have teddy bear heads, ruffs around the neck and rolly polly bodies that will be embellished with pretty old buttons, vintage brooches, beads and antiques pins. I have heard that rice, steel wool and small shells (bird bedding) all can be used for pin cushion filling. I think I will try the steel wool (it keeps the pins nice and sharp) with some cotton filling on the outside layer.

Strawberries Please

Well . . . it is the last day of February and ol'man winter is not letting up. It is -25 in Ottawa today and the wind chill makes it even colder. Thank goodness for California Strawberries and Pineapple from Hawaii ! A few neighbours and I are having a coffee and goodies to warm up : ).

Spring Fever

Lots of pretty embroidered runners, lace and vintage clothing for tomorrow. I have been busy taking photos and preparing listings for my ebay store. I should have about 50 new listings by tomorrow evening ~ February 26, 2008.
